Wheelchair-bound Scuba Diver

Sue Austin’s Tedx talk is absolutely inspiring.

So challenged and energized watching her scuba diving video and hearing her talk about the joy she has found by where she has but her focus.

Thanks for sharing Herman.

1. You should join me.

2. If you are looking for some stationary, here you go. May Notes

Wrestlemania

I am seriously considering fast forwarding JAC’s interest in “professional” wrestling just so I can blame him for the purchase of these posters.

You got to see these amazing minimalist works of “art”.

These images bring back flooding memories of being 10 years old with Justin Lavella and Jason Adkins. Upstairs at 811 River Rock Blvd all night after renting a few Wrestlemania videos.

Was anything ever greater in 1987 than Wrestlemania III ?  Hulk vs. Andre the Giant!

Tonic Media Lab

This week you may have seen City Leadership’s announcement about Tonic Media Lab.

If not, let me tell you what it is.  If so (and if not), let me tell you…I am excited.

Tonic Media Lab is the creative department of City Leadership. It is the five artists on the team, plus me. The ones that dream up the stuff that looks and sounds cool.  It is those guys.

They have been doing some amazing work and I am hoping to create a way where they can do more of it for more organizations.

Basically we take what is often a very time consuming and expensive process for both the branding house and the clients and roll it all into a one week Media Lab. Everything is done from Monday at 8:30am to Friday at 4:00pm.

By everything I mean a lot of stuff. (See the list here)

I am really excited (so excited I am mentioning that again). We are hoping to do at least one of these Media Labs per month this year. We have already received applications and are in the process of booking Labs throughout the next 12 months.

Check out what we are doing and let us know if we can help you or someone you know.

Thanks for sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

Only 100 People

When we talk in Millions and Billions it is hard to grasp reality.

When we talk about 100, break that down into reality, it is a little easier to grasp.

Miniature Earth has done this for us. I want to do one of these for Memphis. I think it will be healthy for people to see.

(Somebody hold me to this.)

Pastor Fashion

I really, really, really wish this website was a joke.

Like an Improv Everywhere kind of joke.

But I hate to say, Ed Young seems very serious about Fashion, Style, and the Proper Shirt Collar.

What you think? Is this a problem you were hoping a pastor would solve?

Invest & Enjoy

5. Solve a problem that means something to you.
Anke Domaske, Inventor of QMilch Milk Fiber, Age 28

Anke Domaske has created a revolutionary textile from an unusual source: sour milk. The fabric, called QMilch, looks and feels like silk, but can be washed and cared for like cotton. Domaske started the process of creating a skin-friendly fabric after watching her stepfather endure constant skin irritation during his treatment for cancer. The process uses only 2 liters of water to produce 1 kilogram of fabric, making it over 5,000 times more water-efficient than producing cotton.

WHOAH!  Isn’t that awesome?

I learned about Anke on the 99% Blog when they were highlighting Eight Inventors under 30. Anke is a classic example of the Invest & Enjoy generation that we are calling for over at Choose 901.

I believe me and my emerging peers can be classified as the “Enjoyment” generation. Our entire lives we have been trained to and catered to pursue the most enjoyed options of life. Inside this generation I believe there were will be a thread of those who “Invest & Enjoy for the benefit of others.”

Thanks Anke for being a proof point for my theory and a gift giver to us all.
