Kingsbury Story Gets Press

The 2008 Kingsbury Story got a big push in the news today by the Commercial Appeal. Jane Roberts did a story on how Kingsbury went from 55% passing in math to 88% passing in math this past year and it is currently running on the front page of the CA on-line.

I agree with Jane that the changes at Kingsbury are impossible without the dedicated teachers and the strong leadership that has been there the past two years. I have personally met many of the faculty and staff at Kingsbury and I am inspired by their hearts and their tireless dedication.

The results of Kingsbury are also impossible if the students do not try. That is plain and simple.

The missing past of Jane’s equation though is “A Caring Community.”  A Caring Community is not needed to make these results possible, but I believe they make these results a hundred times more probable!

I really want to challenge every church and civic organization in this city to adopt a school in our city and make their success more probable.
