6 months ago I filled up for the first time where the pump got to a $100 and just stopped. My tank wasn’t even full.
Today I filled up for $35!
Check that out! $1.519/gallon! That is pretty nice for the monthly budget.
I don’t know about you, but our budget just couldn’t cover the gas prices this year.
Unfortunately, I believe that the price of gas is only down for the holidays. With lower gas prices, America is more likely to get out and spend the $450 Billion projected for Christmas. If gas prices would have been $4 per gallon this fall, that estimate would not have been reached. The money would have been spent, but just on gas instead of presents.
These lower gas prices will actually save thousands of jobs with Americans spending money some place else besides the pump. It may be part of an economical master plan if you are a conspiracy theorist type.
Gas will get its money though. I think it shoots back up to $3 by April of 2009 if not higher.
Another crazy inflation deal is that this year prices of everything have risen because of gas prices. Restaurant food, groceries, building supplies, airline tickets, even the price of gas has increased because of the price of gas. Those prices are probably not coming down though, ever.
I am still getting “fuel surcharges” on bills for deliveries and orders with gas prices down this fall. That seems kind of weird. I ordered something from a local company this summer and they billed me $40 for a “fuel surcharge” and told it me it was because of $4 gas. I ordered from them this month and it was again on the bill. Gas that day was $2/gallon.
You should expect the prices of everything to stay up even if gas stays lower for a season. Another spike in gas prices in 2009 and prices of everything else will climb again.
Make sure your budgets for 2009 include room for the expected unexpected!.

This was good. Thanks! I must say though, when I filled up the Expedition for $40, a tear came to my eye! And that was like a month ago…
